PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Kennedy (ranked 6583 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pootie Tang (ranked 4456 p4p, 0 weight class). Tang has chosen Pootie Tang as his entrance music. The key to victory for Bruno Kennedy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruno Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pootie Tang!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tang tries to avoid it but Kennedy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tang to the ground. Tang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kennedy throws a leg kick

and Tang counters with a shoot takedown. Kennedy fights it but they end up in guard.

Tang is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kennedy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kennedy has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy works over Tang with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kennedy wants to stand but Tang has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Tang avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kennedy is aware though and is defending well.
Kennedy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Tang wants to sweep here but Kennedy controlling him for the moment.

Tang has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kennedy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kennedy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tang is proving hard to escape from.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kennedy throwing strikes from guard but Tang blocks nicely.
Tang preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kennedy gets to his feet. Tang looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kennedy throws a combination that misses

and Tang counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kennedy!
Kennedy tries to buck Tang off but Tang is having none of it.

Tang wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kennedy, who protects the arm well.

Tang tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tang has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kennedy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tang wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Tang tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tang has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tang is working to tighten his grip on Kennedy's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kennedy has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tang is really squeezing tight and eventually Kennedy passes out! Tang breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Pootie Tang!
Our winner, Pootie Tang, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
