Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Iggy Manley!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manley walks into a left hand.

Manley gets a double leg takedown into Bates's guard.
Manley wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Bates working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Manley.
Bates on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bates tries to get out of the position.
Bates trying to control the position.
Manley trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom.
Manley postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manley throws a big right hand that misses.
Manley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Manley wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Manley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Bates keeping moving, preventing Manley from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Manley takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Manley has his takedown stuffed
and Bates connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
No luck for Manley with that takedown attempt.
An attempted straight right counter from Bates misses the target.
Joel Bates is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bates uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Manley shoots in for a takedown but Bates shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Joel Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Iggy Manley.
Manley dives in for a single leg takedown but Bates sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Bates throws a nice inside leg kick.

Bates thuds his shin into the meat of Manley's side.
Manley fails with the takedown
and Bates counters with a nice uppercut.
Bates has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ferocious Beast in the buildup to the fight.
Manley with a lazy takedown attempt
and Bates cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Manley takes a body punch but keeps moving.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Manley misses with a takedown attempt
and Bates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Manley looks winded!
Bates scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Manley doesn't seem bothered though.
Bates with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Manley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bates counters with a stiff right hand.
A punch lands to the side of Manley 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Bates lands a nice shot that snaps Manley's head back.
Manley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Manley walks into a jab.


Manley is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Manley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bates counters with a huge left! Manley is in big trouble! He's backing up but Bates isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Manley from any more damage. A dominating finish by Bates!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joel Bates!

During a confident post fight interview, Joel Bates thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
