The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from De Negri.
Ross Gleeson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Negri drives through with a takedown into Gleeson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

De Negri throws a leg kick
and Gleeson counters with an inside leg kick.
De Negri throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As De Negri backs away, Gleeson returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gleeson.
No luck for De Negri with that takedown attempt.
Gleeson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
De Negri takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gleeson takes a swing at De Negri's ribcage but misses.
Gleeson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Gleeson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on De Negri. That did some damage!
Gleeson throws a leg kick which misses De Negri's front leg but catches the back leg as De Negri tries to avoid it.
Gleeson stuffs the takedown.
Gleeson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
De Negri shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gleeson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
De Negri connects with a couple of short punches.
Gleeson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Negri on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Negri slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
De Negri avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
De Negri takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
De Negri passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gleeson!
De Negri tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ross Gleeson will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Pietro De Negri's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gleeson lands a nice looking body kick.
De Negri looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gleeson throws a head kick that misses.
Gleeson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from De Negri.
De Negri forces Gleeson back against the cage and clinches.
Gleeson is trying to break the clinch but De Negri has him pressed against the cage.
Gleeson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
De Negri gets a takedown into half guard.
De Negri is trying for a kimura here. Gleeson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! De Negri wins by kimura!
