Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Carter (ranked 964 p4p, 151 weight class) and Jesus Malverde (ranked 1196 p4p, 185 weight class). John Carter had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, John Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Malverde! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malverde throws a sloppy head kick and Carter moves out of range easily. Carter with a poor takedown and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That kick from Malverde tenderised Carter's leg. Carter is trying to keep his angry face on. Carter gets a double leg takedown into Malverde's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Carter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Carter throws a big right hand that misses. Malverde is adopting a defensive guard. Carter is looking to work some ground and pound but Malverde has wrist control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter throws a big right hand that misses. Malverde utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. That's one minute gone in the round. Malverde lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Carter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Carter trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Carter is striking from the bottom but Malverde uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Carter flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Malverde is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Malverde thows a huge punch but Carter dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Carter is in all sorts of trouble here.
Malverde goes for an armbar but Carter turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Carter. Carter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Carter with a flurry of punches that miss. Malverde controlling Carter's posture. Carter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Carter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've been hearing that Carter has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter throwing strikes from guard but Malverde blocks nicely. Malverde is trying to control the position but Carter postures up. Malverde tries to land a sweep but no joy. Malverde is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Carter passes Malverde's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Carter is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Carter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carter looking to pass the guard. Malverde controls Carter momentarily but Carter frees himself. Malverde trying to control the position here. Carter throwing strikes but missing. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Carter wants to pass the guard but Malverde is keeping the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Malverde has control of Carter's left arm, preventing Carter from doing any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Carter fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Carter will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Carter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Malverde sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Horrible takedown attempt by Carter or perhaps it was just good defense by Malverde, which made it look bad. Malverde cracks Carter with an open hand slap.
It looks like John Carter has been cut. John Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Malverde lands a glancing blow to the side of Carter's head. Malverde fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carter. Carter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Malverde keeping control of the position. Malverde manages to get to full guard.
Malverde is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter wants to control from the top but Malverde keeps moving. Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carter throws an elbow that misses. Malverde uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carter's guard. Nice move by Malverde! Malverde working some strikes from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Malverde passes into half guard. Carter throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Carter is looking to improve his position.
Carter is trying to control but can't.
Malverde prevents Carter from improving his position. Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Malverde is working away from the top position though. Malverde is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Malverde wants to free his trapped foot but Carter is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malverde's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malverde's back! Carter keeps control of the position as Malverde tries to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Malverde trying to control the hands but Carter breaks the grip. Malverde tries to roll but Carter sticks to his back.
Malverde covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
I really don't envy Malverde right now.
Malverde rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Carter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Carter working the head and body with strikes. Carter wants to take a breather but Malverde is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Malverde controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Carter not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Jesus Malverde will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on John Carter's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Malverde scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Malverde lets loose with a powerful body kick. Carter will feel that in the morning. Carter checks a low kick from Malverde. Malverde tries to land a leg kick but Carter saw it coming and moves away.
Jab by Malverde. Malverde swings away with a leg kick that misses. As Malverde tries to get set, Carter tries to push him back and clinch up but Malverde manages to avoid the attempt. Malverde swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Malverde shows good takedown defense. Malverde swings for the body but Carter moves out of range.
John Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter tries for a takedown but Malverde sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A little jabbing left from Malverde on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Malverde's guard. Malverde managing to control the position. Malverde is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malverde might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Carter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Carter wants to pass the guard but Malverde is keeping the position. Carter throws a big elbow that misses. Malverde trying to control the position here. Carter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Carter throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Malverde thumps Carter with a low kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Carter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Malverde counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Malverde throws a leg kick that misses. Malverde buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jesus Malverde seems to be getting the better of the standup. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Malverde - that will leave a mark!
Malverde connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Good exchange - Malverde coming out on top. Carter misses with a hook
and Malverde comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Carter stumbles back against the ropes, looking to regain his senses but Malverde is on him like rabid pit bull! Carter slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
