Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between First King (ranked 6666 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Quintana (ranked 3534 p4p, 383 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, First King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Quintana! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! King tries to clinch but Quintana is having none of it. King tries to clinch up. Quintana displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab. King is looking to clinch but Quintana is avoiding it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quintana is trying to trip King. He has hold of a leg but King is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Quintana persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Quintana avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quintana forces his way into half guard. Quintana seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Quintana works his way into side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Quintana's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. We've been informed that Quintana has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Quintana gets a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. King throws a punch but it's blocked by Quintana. Quintana lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt King or not. A right hook to the body lands for Quintana.
Quintana lands with a right to the head. Quintana's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Quintana avoiding damage.

It looks like First King has been cut. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Quintana working some nice short punches in the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Quintana. King gets underhooks to prevent Quintana's takedown attempt.

Fernando Quintana dominated that round. The cut man is working on First King's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Quintana gets in close and instigates a clinch. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Quintana. Fernando Quintana seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. King jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Quintana walks away with a smile on his face. King gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. King tries to keep at a distance but Quintana has taken the fight into the clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by Quintana. Quintana turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Quintana staying calm.
