Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tero Elo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murilo Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elo comes to the cage accompanied by Helsinki City Boy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Murilo Rua!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elo tries to clinch up but Rua circles away and keeps his distance.

and Rua counters with a right hand to the body.

It looks like Murilo Rua has been cut.

Rua has taken the fight to the clinch.

Elo lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Elo misses with a punch on the inside.
Rua avoiding damage as Elo throws knees to the body.

Come on Rua - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Rua is pressed up against the cage. Elo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rua down to the mat. Rua avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tero Elo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Elo moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Elo misses with some punches.

Rua pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Elo closes the distance and clinches.
Elo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rua prevents it.

Rua's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rua rushes Elo and presses him up against the cage.
Elo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Elo throws a punch but it's blocked by Rua.

Rua tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Elo tightens his grip and picks Rua up, before dumping him to the ground. Rua manages to land in guard.

Elo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rua looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rua looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rua!

Rua decides to stand up, so the ref orders Elo to his feet.

Elo wants to break the clinch but can't.

Rua misses with a knee to the head.
Rua working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Rua lands an elbow inside that Elo shrugs off.

Elo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rua fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Elo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rua pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rua connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rua closes the distance and clinches up with Elo, looking for a takedown. Rua pushes Elo against the cage but Elo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rua closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rua stands up and beckons Elo to his feet.

Elo tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Rua counters with an outside leg kick.
Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Elo shoots in for a double leg but Rua sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rua goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Elo is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Elo is looking to improve his position but Rua isn't that keen on the idea.
Rua tries to control but Elo wriggling away.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rua prevents Elo from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Elo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rua's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rua's back!
Elo lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Elo connects with a big shot to the side of Rua's head.

Rua defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Elo's arms.
Will Elo go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Elo as he avoids it easily.
Elo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

and Rua counters with a nice body kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Elo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rua shoots in and drives through. Elo sprawls well.
Elo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Murilo Rua is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rua stuffs the takedown.
Rua keeps the fight on the outside.
Elo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Elo wants to clinch.
Rua swats away the attempt to clinch by Elo.
Rua throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Elo has had enough of the clinch but Rua keeps him there for the moment.

Rua is trying to maintain a safe position but Elo gets an underhook and turns Rua into the cage.

Elo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rua feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Elo is looking for a triangle here but Rua uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Elo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Elo manages to end up in side control.

Elo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rua is staying active underneath Elo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rua lands a nice looking kick to the body. Elo takes a step back to recover.
Elo wants to clinch but Rua slips to the side
and Rua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rua avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rua uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Elo.
Rua throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Elo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elo has Rua pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Elo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rua tumbling to the mat - Elo dives into Rua's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tero Elo.
I think Elo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
