Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Ricky Crolla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Emanuel Furlan!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furlan clinches up against the cage.
Crolla holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Crolla prevents the takedown attempt.
Furlan goes for a takedown attempt but Crolla pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Crolla doesn't manage to clinch there - Furlan circles away.
Crolla takes a jab right on the kisser.
Furlan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Furlan.
Furlan fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice shot lands for Crolla.
Crolla feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Furlan keeping moving, preventing Crolla from controlling successfully.
Furlan looking for a guillotine here but Crolla defends easily.
Furlan throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Crolla working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Furlan's head.
Furlan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Crolla drops back looking for a leg! Furlan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Furlan manages to kick Crolla off! Crolla jumps back into Furlan's guard.
Furlan has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Crolla should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Furlan has tightened it up now! Crolla should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Emanuel Furlan!
A relieved looking Emanuel Furlan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
