Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leland Hopkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kus Tar! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tar getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Tar connects with a looping right hand.
Hopkins has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Leland Hopkins has been cut. Donk. Tar catches Hopkins right on the button with a cross. Hopkins shoots in for a takedown but Tar shows good takedown defense. Hopkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hopkins somewhat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hopkins has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hopkins there as he acknowledges the shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hopkins shoots in but Tar avoids the takedown attempt easily. Tar was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leland Hopkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tar leaves Hopkins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hopkins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tar counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tar throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Hopkins has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tar finds it's way round the side to connect with Hopkins's head. Hopkins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Tar lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hopkins is rocked! Hopkins gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Tar gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kus Tar!
