Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dustin George! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Filipe Flaype! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flaype throws a shot to the body.
Filipe Flaype seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Flaype dives in for a single leg takedown but George sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Flaype fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Flaype tries to clinch but fails miserably and George counters with a two punch combo. Flaype throws a shot to the body.
Flaype throws a sloppy head kick and George moves into the clinch. Flaype wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but George has him pressed against the cage. Flaype goes for a takedown in the clinch but George prevents it.
Dustin George has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Filipe Flaype. George stalling the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flaype is looking to control George's arms but George gets an underhook and turns him. Now Flaype has his back to the cage. Flaype gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, George regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! George wants to stand but Flaype is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. George escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Flaype gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Flaype is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. George looking to hit a scissor sweep but Flaype is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. George looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. George keeping moving, preventing Flaype from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A cross from Flaype lands.
It looks like Dustin George has been cut. Flaype tries to clinch up. Flaype goes for a double leg but George avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as George continues to drive forward. George gets in close and instigates a clinch. Flaype drags the fight down to the ground.
Flaype tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. George in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as George accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Flaype working a defensive guard here.
George postures up and lands a big shot to Flaype's brow. Flaype escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. George gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. George wants to stand but Flaype has a closed guard, so he can't escape. George stands up from Flaype's guard - George perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. George closes the distance and clinches. George slowing the pace effectively. Flaype blocking some punches.
Flaype is looking to break free of the clinch but George has double underhooks. George trying to stall but Flaype improves his position.
Flaype lands with a short head shot on the inside. George misses with a knee to the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Come on George - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Flaype is looking for a takedown up against the cage. George gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Flaype jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as George walks away with a smile on his face. Flaype gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dustin George dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dustin George's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Flaype shoots in and drives through. George sprawls well. As Flaype tries to get set, George tries to push him back and clinch up but Flaype manages to avoid the attempt. Flaype throws a sloppy head kick and George moves out of range easily. Flaype rushes George and presses him up against the cage. George really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. George throws a punch but it's blocked by Flaype. George lands a nice knee to the body. George tries a body shot but Flaype blocks it.

Flaype sitting in guard here, content to control. Flaype passes George's left leg - he's now in half guard. George manages to escape and get back to his feet!

George is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Flaype pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. George has managed to clinch.

George has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. George clinches. As Flaype tries to get set, George tries to push him back and clinch up but Flaype manages to avoid the attempt. George tries to keep at a distance but Flaype has taken the fight into the clinch. Flaype escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

George wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. George tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. George keeps the fight on the outside. As Flaype tries to get set, George tries to push him back and clinch up but Flaype manages to avoid the attempt. Flaype keeps the fight on the outside. Flaype misses with a takedown attempt - George sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. George manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. As Flaype tries to get set, George tries to push him back and clinch up but Flaype manages to avoid the attempt. Flaype has his takedown stuffed and George counters by moving into the clinch. Flaype is trying to break free. Flaype has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. George is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Flaype working hard to break the clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! George has Flaype pressed against the cage.

Filipe Flaype has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dustin George is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Flaype lands a knee to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dustin George. Well I reckon that's a shut out for George, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
