Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rupert Blasts (ranked 229 p4p, 34 weight class) and Michael Cole (ranked 159 p4p, 25 weight class). Cole has chosen I Won't Back Down as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rupert Blasts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Cole!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blasts fails in his attempt to clinch.
Blasts throws a hook to the side of Cole's head but Cole sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cole changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Blasts throws a looping overhand right but Cole ducks down to avoid it.
Cole shoots in looking for a takedown. Blasts tries to sprawl out of it but Cole keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Blasts manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Blasts misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cole.
Blasts moves in looking to clinch but Cole pushes him off.
Cole misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Blasts tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cole manages to circle out of the way.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cole dives in for a single leg takedown but Blasts sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Cole lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Blasts.
Blasts is breathing heavily.

Cole is trying to trip Blasts. He has hold of a leg but Blasts is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cole persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Cole working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Cole trying to control the position from guard on top but Blasts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Blasts scores with a jab. Cole acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cole.

Blasts sneaks out the side door and pushes Cole away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Blasts connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Cole moves forwards but Blasts connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Blasts tries a low kick but Cole avoids it.
It seemed like Cole was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rupert Blasts is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cole throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blasts stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A bone on bone clash there as Cole blocks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rupert Blasts will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Blasts looks to land a left hand but Cole moved out of range nicely.
And Cole tries to counter it with a takedown but Blasts pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Cole is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Blasts with a body shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close second round but I would say that Rupert Blasts will probably get the nod.
