Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Nilsen (ranked 2377 p4p, 302 weight class) and Seth Sexton (ranked 2767 p4p, 345 weight class). Sexton is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I'm too sexy - Right Said Fred. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dennis Nilsen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seth Sexton!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Nilsen.
Nilsen misses with a two punch combination.
Sexton takes a swing at Nilsen's ribcage but misses.

Nilsen gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sexton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nilsen fails to pull guard.
Sexton can't find room to land a body shot as Nilsen controls the action.
Sexton throws a head punch that misses.
Sexton misses with a hook from the clinch.

Nilsen goes for a takedown attempt but Sexton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dennis Nilsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nilsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sexton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nilsen drops back looking for a leg! Sexton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sexton manages to kick Nilsen off! Nilsen jumps back into Sexton's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nilsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sexton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nilsen wants to control from the top but Sexton keeps moving.

Sexton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nilsen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nilsen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We've been hearing good reports from Nilsen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Sexton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nilsen's guard.

Nilsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sexton is looking for a sweep. Nilsen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sexton makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sexton.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sexton manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nilsen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sextons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Nilsen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sexton can do to turn this around?
Sexton takes a swing at Nilsen's ribcage but misses.
Nilsen changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Nilsen rushes Sexton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sexton works on Nilsen's body with a couple of short punches.

Nilsen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nilsen has picked Sexton up - he's going for a ride! Nilsen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Nilsen wants to pass the guard but Sexton is defending well.

Sexton is looking to regain half guard here but Nilsen keeps moving and retains side control.
Sexton is not content to let Nilsen control the position.
Sexton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Sexton wants to improve his position but Nilsen is controlling well.

Dennis Nilsen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Seth Sexton spoke after the fight, saying 'Naaah, didn't happen. This was just a bad mushroom trip and I'm still undefeated! '.
