Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dock Ellis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
52 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Afro Samurai! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Samurai swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ellis counters with a nice leg kick. Samurai misses with a two punch combination.
Ellis was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Samurai looks to land a combination. Ellis sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Samurai misses with a combination
and Ellis counters with a right hand to the body. We've been told by Ellis's head coaches at the smoker that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Samurai misses with a lunging right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Samurai throws a combination that misses and Ellis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Samurai looks winded! Oooooh!!! Ellis has knocked Samurai down with a huge combo! Ellis steps away and waves a wobbly Samurai back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Afro Samurai has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Ellis lands a big uppercut and Samurai crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Samurai looks OK. Ellis waves Samurai back to his feet!
Samurai is rocked! Ellis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Samurai looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Ellis scores with a push kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Samurai takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ellis lands a big uppercut and Samurai crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Samurai looks OK. Ellis waves Samurai back to his feet! Samurai is still on wobbly legs! Can Ellis finish him? Ellis fakes the body blow, causing Samurai to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Samurai goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dock Ellis! A relieved looking Dock Ellis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
