PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noam Dar (ranked 7715 p4p, 747 weight class) and Rod Marchand (ranked 24835 p4p, 876 weight class). Marchand has chosen Daisy as his entrance music. Noam Dar is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Noam Dar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rod Marchand!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marchand sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Dar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Marchand is looking for a sweep. Dar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Still in half guard, Dar seems content to control.
Marchand holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Marchand wants to get back to full guard.
Dar wants to pass the guard but Marchand is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marchand is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dar pulls his head out easily.

Marchand is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dar swats away the attempt to clinch by Marchand.
Dar tried to counter with a leg kick but Marchand avoided it.
Marchand has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dar is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Dar fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Marchand to the ground. Dar is now in Marchand's guard.

Dar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marchand is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marchand defends it nicely.
Marchand wants to counter with a clinch but Dar pushes him away.

Marchand fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dar to the ground. Marchand is now in Dar's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marchand is controlling him.

That was a close round but I would say that Noam Dar will probably get the nod.

Marchand closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marchand lands in his opponent's guard.
Dar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Dar looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Marchand is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Marchand has gone for a leg lock! Dar slips out almost immediately though and dives into Marchand's guard.

Dar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The referee asks Dar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dar prefers to stall for the moment though.

Dar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marchand is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dar trying to control the position but Marchand is working away.
Dar in side control lands a decent elbow.
Marchand tries to buck Dar off but Dar is having none of it.
Marchand is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Marchand regains full guard. Nicely done.

Dar is pushing down on Marchand's leg trying to pass to half guard. Marchand is fighting to maintain full guard but Dar has managed to sneak the leg through.
Marchand is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dar lands strikes from half guard.

Dar wants to pass the guard but Marchand is defending well.
Marchand wants to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Dar seems content to control.
Noam Dar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dar working over Marchand with some ground and pound. Marchand looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Marchand wants to control but Dar is keeping busy.
Dar is looking to advance position but Marchand won't allow it.
Dar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Dar is working for a submission of some sort.
Dar is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Marchand!

Marchand is trying desperately to improve position.
Dar controlling from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dar shoots in for a double leg but Marchand sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Marchand doesn't manage to clinch there - Dar circles away.
Dar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Dar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marchand is fending him off so far but Dar persists. Nope, Marchand circles away and we're back to standing.
Marchand tries to clinch there but Dar circles away.
Marchand misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dar half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dar.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Noam Dar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Marchand fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dar sprawls well initially but Marchand persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dar is looking to get back to is feet but Marchand passes into side control.

Marchand is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Marchand postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Marchand has hold of Dar's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Dar tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Marchand cranks the arm and Dar screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Dar, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rod Marchand!
