Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yoel Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve McDoughe! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by McDoughe. Romero manages to get back to half guard. Romero actively working from the bottom here. McDoughe thows a huge punch but Romero dodges it nicely.
Romero wants to control but McDoughe is keeping busy and won't allow it. Romero keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Romero looking for submissions from an awkward position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McDoughe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. McDoughe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Romero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDoughe is aware though and is defending well.
