Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Son Hickman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Schmeler! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Schmeler does no damage. Hickman tries to counter by clinching up but Schmeler breaks away and moves out of range. Hickman dodges the punch combination from Schmeler.
Hickman is looking to clinch but Schmeler is avoiding it.
Hickman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Schmeler. Hickman tried to counter with a leg kick but Schmeler avoided it. Hickman dodges the punch combination from Schmeler.
Hickman blocks a jab. Schmeler closes the distance and clinches. Hickman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hickman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hickman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Schmeler smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Son Hickman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hickman has Schmeler up against the cage in a clinch.

Nice defenses there by Hickman. Hickman is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Hickman misses the shot to the body. Hickman fails with a takedown attempt. Schmeler throws a counter combo. Schmeler throws a looping overhand right but Hickman ducks down to avoid it. Eric Schmeler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Schmeler lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A jab lands there for Schmeler. Hickman finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Schmeler's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Hickman falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eric Schmeler! A very excited looking Eric Schmeler made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet.
