Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mao Pesada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan Winters! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Darius Henderson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winters clinches up against the cage. Pesada looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Winters is trying to drag Pesada to the mat but Pesada just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Pesada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pesada lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
It looks like Jonathan Winters has been cut. Winters has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pesada wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Winters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pesada uses from the top position. Winters wants to sweep here but Pesada controlling him for the moment. Winters has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pesada off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Winters closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Winters is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pesada pulls him back up using the underhooks. Winters throws a punch but it's blocked by Pesada. Pesada is trying to force a seperation but Winters has the dominant position. Winters misses with a punch on the inside.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Winters stalling against the cage.
Winters lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pesada backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pesada wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Winters has him pressed against the cage. Pesada escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Winters moves into the clinch successfully.
Pesada blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A frustrated look appears on Pesada's face as he tries to break the clinch. Winters tries to score a body lock takedown but Pesada shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Mao Pesada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Winters. Winters content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Pesada wants to break the clinch but can't.
A short right from Winters. Winters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pesada works Winters's body with a nice hook. Winters looks winded! Pesada lands a nice looking body shot.
Pesada really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Pesada is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Winters hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
