PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kordell Bailey Sr. (ranked 1725 p4p, 257 weight class) and Sam Rogers (ranked 15120 p4p, 858 weight class). Bailey Sr. comes to the ring accompanied by Damian Marley - Road To Zion. Sam Rogers told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kordell Bailey Sr.!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey Sr. cracks a nice hook into Rogers's ribs.
Bailey Sr. connects with a single shot there.
Bailey Sr. misses with a two punch combination.
Bailey Sr. misses with a double jab.
Bailey Sr. swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bailey Sr. lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Bailey Sr. lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rogers backs up against the ropes.
Bailey Sr. loads up on a big right hand but Rogers slips the punch.
Bailey Sr. misses with a body shot.
Rogers drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bailey Sr. defends it well.
Rogers slips a straight right by Bailey Sr..
Rogers lands a jab to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rogers throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bailey Sr. fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Bailey Sr. keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bailey Sr. uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rogers.
Bailey Sr. appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bailey Sr.. Rogers does a little dance to reset his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bailey Sr. throws a body shot but no joy.
Rogers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bailey Sr. counters with a straight right hand.
Bailey Sr. has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bailey Sr. listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Rogers takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
A shot to the liver by Bailey Sr.. Beautiful body shot.
Bailey Sr. displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rogers throws out the jab.
Rogers has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bailey Sr. finds it's way round the side to connect with Rogers's head.

Rogers gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Bailey Sr. slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bailey Sr. looks to land a right hand but Rogers moved out of range.
Rogers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bailey Sr. is fending him off so far but Rogers persists. Nope, Bailey Sr. circles away and we're back to standing.
Bailey Sr. throwing a counter right hand but Rogers manages to avoid it.
Kordell Bailey Sr. has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Rogers.

Rogers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bailey Sr.'s guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bailey Sr. is trying to control the position but Rogers postures up.

Rogers is posturing up here but Bailey Sr. has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rogers tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rogers has to tap! Slick submission there by Bailey Sr.!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kordell Bailey Sr.!
As Kordell Bailey Sr. got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: T'anks to all di fighters n Marty this season for di good vibes. Bless'.
