Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Hardin (ranked 25122 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Reyes (ranked 6351 p4p, 638 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Hardin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Reyes! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reyes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hardin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hardin is not content to let Reyes control the position. Hardin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reyes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hardin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reyes on the ground. Reyes tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Hardin is trying to control Reyes's posture but Reyes avoids it. Reyes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Hardin sneaks out the side door and pushes Reyes away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Reyes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hardin's guard. Hardin controlling Reyes's posture. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hardin has momentary wrist control but Reyes slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardin keeping moving, preventing Reyes from controlling successfully. Hardin managing to control the position. Hardin keeping full guard, as Reyes tries to pass. Hardin controlling the position. Reyes tries to free his leg and advance position but Hardin is retaining full guard. Hardin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reyes is aware though and is defending well. Reyes showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Hardin keeping moving, preventing Reyes from controlling successfully. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hardin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Reyes has his hands clasped together but Hardin extends and breaks Reyes's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hardin.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edmundo Hardin!
