PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rosco Coltrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randal Rambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randal Rambo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rosco Coltrane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randal Rambo!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coltrane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rambo. That did some damage!

Rambo has closed the distance and engaged Coltrane in a clinch.
Rambo working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Rambo landing knees to the body.

Coltrane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rambo throws a leg kick which misses Coltrane's front leg but catches the back leg as Coltrane tries to avoid it.

Rambo tries to keep at a distance but Coltrane has taken the fight into the clinch.

Coltrane pulls guard successfully.
Coltrane looking for a sweep. Not yet Coltrane, not yet.
Rambo trying to control but Coltrane is working from the bottom.
Coltrane controls Rambo momentarily but Rambo frees himself.
Rambo cracks Coltrane with a solid left hand.

Coltrane is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Rambo moves out of range of the strikes.
A thudding body kick lands there by Rambo!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rambo.
Coltrane shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rambo as he avoids it easily.
Coltrane swings and misses with a hook to the body.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Coltrane shoots in and drives through. Rambo sprawls well.

Coltrane looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Coltrane is breathing heavily.

Coltrane tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Coltrane is pressed up against the cage. Rambo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Coltrane down to the mat. Coltrane avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Rosco Coltrane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randal Rambo.
Rambo pushes Coltrane back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Rambo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Coltrane just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rambo jumps guard but Coltrane stands there with Rambo around his waist. Rambo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Coltrane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rambo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rambo moves out of range as Coltrane throws a body kick.

Coltrane forces Rambo back against the cage and clinches.
Rambo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Rambo breaks the clinch.
Coltrane misses with a jab, cross combination.

Rambo wants to break the clinch but can't.

Coltrane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rambo scores with a sloppy right hand. Coltrane should have avoided that one.
A head kick misses from Coltrane.
Coltrane lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rambo takes a step back to recover.
Coltrane fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rambo on the side of the head.

Coltrane pushes Rambo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Coltrane drags the fight down to the ground.

Coltrane pushes Rambo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Coltrane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Coltrane cracks Rambo with an open hand slap.
Coltrane misses with a jab, cross combination.

Coltrane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Coltrane counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Coltrane.
Coltrane jumps guard but Rambo stands there with Coltrane around his waist. Coltrane gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

and Coltrane counters with a body kick that stops Rambo in his tracks momentarily.

Coltrane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rambo swivels and escapes.
Coltrane throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
