The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mendez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mendez looks to land a right hand but Norton moved out of range.
Norton is looking for a counter combo.
Norton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Norton misses with a double jab.
Good standup being displayed there by Mendez as he connects with a hook.
Mendez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Norton counters with a one-two to the body.
Mendez throws a hook but Norton avoids it easily.
Mendez paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Mendez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Norton stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carlitos Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Norton throws a big counter combination but Mendez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Mendez cracks Norton with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Norton falls to his knees and Mendez doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
