Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gage Asters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stu Prior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gage Asters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stu Prior!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prior misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Asters lands a nice shot to the body.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Asters.

Asters clinches up against the cage.
Prior on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Prior breaks the clinch.

Asters closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Prior can't break the clinch.
Prior is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Prior wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Asters blocks an elbow strike.
Prior throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Asters pushes off an fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Asters misses with an elbow over the top.
Prior wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Asters has him pressed against the cage.
Asters dodges an elbow strike from Prior.

Prior breaks from the clinch.
Stu Prior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Asters counters with a series of strikes. Prior will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Prior takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Asters stuffs the takedown.

Asters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Prior's waist but Prior gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Asters off to one side.

Asters pushes Prior up against the cage in a clinch.
Prior wants to get back to striking at distance but Asters won't allow it.
Asters lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Asters breaks the clinch.

Asters clinches up against the cage.

Asters tightens his grip and picks Prior up, before dumping him to the ground. Prior manages to land in guard.
Asters throwing strikes but missing.

Asters decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A head kick from Asters lands but Prior takes it in his stride.


It looks like Stu Prior has been cut.

Asters has closed the distance and engaged Prior in a clinch.

Asters lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Asters successfully pulls guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Prior working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Asters manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Prior gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Asters stands up and waves to Prior to follow him.
Prior takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Asters works over Prior's head and body with a nice combination.

Asters lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Asters.
Prior is trying to break the clinch but Asters has him pressed against the cage.
Prior wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Asters feints and then cracks Prior's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Prior down.
Asters lands with a slapping head kick.
Asters throws a head kick that Prior semi-blocks.

Asters throws a series of strikes that have Prior backpedaling.

Asters slips under a jab.
Asters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Prior as he avoids it easily.

Asters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Prior pinned against the cage. Prior gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gage Asters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Asters counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Asters.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Asters creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Asters shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Asters was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Asters cracks Prior with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Prior really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Asters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Asters is landing with some decent strikes but Prior is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Asters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
I would not like to be Prior right now.

Asters is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Prior. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Asters lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Prior takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Prior takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Prior looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Asters turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Asters manages to end up in side control.

Asters has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Asters steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Prior.

Asters rushes Prior and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Asters manages to break the clinch.

and Asters counters with a nice body kick.

Asters drives through and clinches with Prior against the cage.
Asters prevents Prior from breaking the clinch.

Prior is fighting off a takedown attempt but Asters is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Prior to the mat. Prior regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Asters decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Prior, up you get!

Prior forces Asters back against the cage and clinches.

Asters has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Prior is trying to keep an underhook but Asters manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Asters trying to advance position but Prior counters by regaining guard.
Asters sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Prior's guard.

Asters stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Prior to get to his feet.

and Asters counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Asters accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Asters looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Stu Prior has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Asters has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
