Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Monstra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Death Row (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monstra's entrance music is Slayer - Hate Worldwide. A fine choice. Row has chosen Who Da Champion as his entrance music. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Monstra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Death Row!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monstra throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Row.
Some wild striking there from Monstra.
Monstra digs a good body shot into Row's ribs.
Monstra looks to score with a jab to the body but Row is just out of range.
A nice combination there by Monstra.


It looks like Death Row has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Row closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Row is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monstra defends it well.
Monstra has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Row is working away from the top position though.

Row is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Monstra is looking to improve his position.
Row not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Monstra is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Row's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Row's back!
I would not like to be Row right now.
Row rolls, trying to escape but Monstra keeps control of the position.

Row is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Monstra gets his hands free as Row looks to control.
Monstra doesn't have the hooks in and Row manages to turn into his guard.
Monstra wants to stand but Row is controlling the position.
Row trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Monstra looks to throw the jab but Row is out of range.

Row steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Monstra.

Row uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Monstra.
Monstra fails to land with a series of punches.
Row shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Monstra scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Row doesn't seem bothered though.
Monstra catches Row with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Monstra throws out a loose jab but Row uses good head movement to avoid it.

Monstra looks to land a right hand but Row moved out of range.
Row slips under a jab.
Row shoots in for a takedown but Monstra shows good takedown defense.
Marcus Monstra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Death Row.

Row closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Row lands in his opponent's guard.
Row loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Row is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Monstra is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Monstra has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Row takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A combination from Monstra does no damage.
Row uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monstra.
Row slips under a jab.
Monstra dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Monstra throws a shot from downtown. Row moves away and avoids it.
Monstra connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Monstra waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Row.
Monstra swinging wilding here.
Monstra fails to land with a series of punches.
Row ducks right into an uppercut from Monstra.
A combination from Monstra does no damage.

Monstra connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Row shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Monstra's guard.

Row has gone for a leg lock! Monstra slips out almost immediately though and dives into Row's guard.
Monstra is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Row had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Monstra is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Row Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Monstra's back instead.

Row is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Monstra defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Row is breathing heavily.

Row looking to break Monstra's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Monstra remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Row will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Monstra fending off the submission attempt from Row.

Row goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Monstra escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Monstra wants to stand up but Row has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monstra stalling.
Row wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Monstra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Row keeps working.
Row wants to improve his position but Monstra is controlling well.
Row is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Monstra comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Row shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Monstra pinned against the cage. Monstra gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Row steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Monstra.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monstra lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Row walks into a left hand.
Row shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Row will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Monstra takes a swing at Row's ribcage but misses.
Monstra lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Monstra.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Monstra throws a good cross that connects.
Row moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Monstra is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Monstra rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Row moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Row takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Row avoids a punch combination nicely.
Row displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Monstra throws out the jab.

Row uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Monstra.
Monstra throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monstra misses with a looping right.
Row looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Monstra is fending him off so far but Row persists. Nope, Monstra circles away and we're back to standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Row throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Monstra's waist but Monstra gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Row off to one side.
Marcus Monstra is winning the standup battle so far.

Row looks for a takedown but Monstra sprawls well.

Monstra swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Row.

Monstra throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Row uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Monstra.
Row looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Row fails to land the takedown.
Monstra swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Row uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monstra.

Row gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Row working away.
Row lands a decent elbow from side control.
Row in side control, throwing shots but Monstra defends.
Monstra is trying to get back to half guard.

Row is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Monstra is trying to escape and Row transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Monstra is forced to tap! Nice work there by Row! Very nice indeed!
