Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Leon Lindhaus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Shlemenko! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shlemenko ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Shlemenko has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Lindhaus slips a jab and a cross from Shlemenko.
Lindhaus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Shlemenko avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Shlemenko throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lindhaus.
It looks like Leon Lindhaus has been cut. Shlemenko slips a jab from Lindhaus. Shlemenko throws out a counter right but Lindhaus avoids it with no problem. Shlemenko throws a head kick but Lindhaus moves out of range.
Shlemenko throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A head kick misses from Shlemenko. Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses. Shlemenko throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Lindhaus tries to keep at a distance but Shlemenko has taken the fight into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shlemenko working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Shlemenko breaks from the clinch.
Shlemenko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lindhaus, pushing him back against the cage. Lindhaus avoids the elbow strike from Shlemenko, against the cage.
Lindhaus escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shlemenko defending well as Lindhaus loads up on a big left hand. Shlemenko keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lindhaus jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lindhaus could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Donk. Lindhaus catches Shlemenko right on the button with a cross. Shlemenko moves into range and clinches up with Lindhaus. Lindhaus blocking some punches.
Lindhaus letting Shlemenko take a breather here. A short right from Shlemenko on the inside. Shlemenko pulls guard successfully.
Shlemenko wants to sweep but no luck. Shlemenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lindhaus manages to get himself to full guard.
Shlemenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Shlemenko throws an elbow that misses. Lindhaus uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shlemenko's guard. Nice move by Lindhaus!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Lindhaus postures up.
This has been an exciting period of action! Shlemenko is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Shlemenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lindhaus is aware though and is defending well. Shlemenko pulls Lindhaus in close to prevent any damage. Shlemenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lindhaus works a leg free and moves into half guard. Shlemenko is trying to get back to full guard. Shlemenko looking for submissions off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko pushes Lindhaus off and gets back to his feet. Lindhaus throws a hook but Shlemenko blocks it. Lindhaus digs a good hook to Shlemenko's body.
Leon Lindhaus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shlemenko avoids the body shot from Lindhaus.
Lindhaus misses with a looping right. Shlemenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shlemenko lands a head kick!
Shlemenko clobbers Lindhaus with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lindhaus is rocked! Shlemenko feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Lindhaus crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
