Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Shift (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tor Anka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shift has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Shift!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tor Anka!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anka throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Anka tries for a takedown but Shift sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Anka looks to score with a jab to the body but Shift is just out of range.
Anka staying out of range there.
Anka swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Anka closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anka lands in his opponent's guard.
Shift is breathing heavily.
Shift wants to stand but Anka is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anka scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Shift throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Anka loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Anka wants to stand but Shift has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Anka keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shift's head.

Anka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anka is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anka wants to get up but he can't break Shift's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Shift is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Anka wants to stand but Shift has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Anka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Shift takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Anka shoots for a double leg takedown but Shift sprawls well. He's pushed Anka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Anka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Anka working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shift doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shift manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shift sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Anka's guard.
Anka pushes Shift off looking to stand but Shift dives back in and keeps control.
Anka is looking for a sweep. Shift is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Shift closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Anka to the mat! Anka manages to get full guard.

Anka is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Shift pulls his head out easily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shift connects with a nice short shot to Anka's temple.

Anka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shift. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shift takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Anka fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Anka throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shift.
Donk. Anka catches Shift right on the button with a cross.
Anka thows a body shot but no joy.
Anka lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shift backs up against the cage.

Shift shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Anka's guard.
Shift seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Shift feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Anka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's time! Shift's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Shift shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Anka tries to lock up and control but Shift gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The referee warns Anka that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anka tries to buck Shift off but he can't manage it.
Tor Anka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Shift has control of Anka's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Anka regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Shift lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Anka hang on?
Shift tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
BOOM! Shift connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Poor strikes thrown by Shift there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Anka is in a horrible position here. Shift smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Shift has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Anka's face.

David Shift showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shift, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
