Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Bersten (ranked 8650 p4p, 829 weight class) and Ed Palmer (ranked 9017 p4p, 848 weight class). Brett Bersten has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Bersten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ed Palmer ! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palmer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bersten pinned against the cage. Bersten gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Bersten tries a head kick but it misses.
Bersten takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Palmer is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bersten closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Palmer keeps control of Bersten as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Palmer keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bersten's efforts to push away. Palmer breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Palmer closes the distance and clinches up with Bersten, looking for a takedown. Palmer pushes Bersten against the cage but Bersten circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Bersten appears to be looking for a big counter. Bersten swinging wildly here.
Palmer throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Palmer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bersten went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Palmer with a lazy takedown attempt and Bersten counters with a two punch combo. Brett Bersten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Palmer . Palmer looks winded! The fight stays on the outside here - Palmer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A left and a right from Bersten both land. Nice combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Palmer shoots in for a takedown but Bersten shows good takedown defense. Bersten is looking for a counter combo. Bersten slaps away a takedown attempt from Palmer , before circling back to the center of the mat. Bersten scores to the head and body with a nice combination! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bersten clinches up against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Bersten's face as he tries to break the clinch. Palmer prevents Bersten from breaking the clinch. Palmer is looking to control Bersten's arms but Bersten gets an underhook and turns him. Now Palmer has his back to the cage. Bersten could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bersten working hard to break the clinch. Bersten is trying to push Palmer away but Palmer has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Bersten is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Bersten managing to block the knees to the body from Palmer .
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bersten tries to break the clinch but Palmer is controlling the position. Bersten manages to break the clinch.
Bersten throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Palmer 's head. Bersten pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bersten tries to keep at a distance but Palmer has taken the fight into the clinch. Bersten has had enough of the clinch but Palmer keeps him there for the moment. Bersten manages to break the clinch.
Palmer swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bersten counters with a lovely straight right hand! Bersten tries to clinch up but Palmer circles away and keeps his distance. Bersten connects with a high kick. Palmer on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Palmer is rocked! Bersten connects with a superb combination that knocks Palmer out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Bersten before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Palmer !
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Brett Bersten!
