Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Oolong Chang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tony Jaa! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jaa lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nice sprawl there from Jaa as Chang shoots in. A thudding body kick lands there by Chang!
Chang is looking to land body kicks. Chang looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Chang ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jaa moves away. Oolong Chang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chang misses with a body kick. Jaa listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Chang takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Chang clinches with his opponent.
Jaa throws a head punch that misses. Chang is looking to take this one to the mat. Chang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Chang thows a body kick. Jaa tries to catch it but that hurt him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chang throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jaa lands with a good body shot. Chang throws a chopping leg kick but Jaa manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chang walks into a stiff left hand from Jaa. Chang throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Chang fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oolong Chang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chang looks to land a left hand but Jaa moved out of range nicely. Tony Jaa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jaa connects with a looping right hand.
Chang moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Jaa lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Chang misses with a body shot.
Jaa lands a jab to Chang's midsection. Jaa connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Chang momentarily.
Chang scores with a kick to the midsection. Nice cross by Chang. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jaa throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jaa cracks Chang with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Chang is rocked! Chang tries to clinch there but Jaa circles away.
Oh Chang is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jaa is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Chang had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Jaa moves into range and connects with a jab. Chang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Chang throws a lazy body kick and Jaa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jaa swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Chang. Jaa misses with a few strikes there.
Chang throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Nice body kick there by Chang. Chang seems to have got his legs back now. Chang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jaa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jaa scores with a jab to the jaw. Jaa lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jaa might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chang tries to clinch up but Jaa circles away and keeps his distance. Chang on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Chang throws a lazy head kick and Jaa counters with a crisp one two that drops Chang! Jaa thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Chang to his feet! Chang is in big trouble! Chang is breathing heavily. Jaa lands with a shot to the body. Jaa pounces like a tiger and cracks Chang with a vicious hook! Chang is down but not out! Jaa follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Tony Jaa!
