Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neville Southall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome Steel! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Southall circles away quickly and effectively. Steel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Southall throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Jerome Steel has been cut. Southall moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
It looks like Neville Southall has been cut. Steel cracks Southall with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Southall chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Southall scores with a kick to the body.
Steel misses with a combination
and Southall counters with a head kick that drops Steel to the mat! Steel scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Steel throws a body shot but no joy. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Southall.
Southall lands a big head kick that sends Steel tumbling to the mat! Southall takes a step backwards and waves Steel back to his feet - he wants the finish! Southall seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Steel throws a body punch but Southall moves out of range. Steel takes a swing at Southall's ribcage but misses. Southall half committed to a counter leg kick. Steel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Southall can pounce on him.
Steel takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Steel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Southall doesn't seem bothered though. Southall with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Sloppy strikes from Steel. Those never looked like landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Southall looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Southall lands a big head kick that sends Steel tumbling to the mat! Southall takes a step backwards and waves Steel back to his feet - he wants the finish! Southall throws a nice outside leg kick. Steel sizes up Southall with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Steel misses the body punch and Southall counters with a nice low kick that buckles Steel's knee momentarily. A cross from Steel lands. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Southall looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Southall takes a body punch but keeps moving. Steel swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Steel connects with a body shot that sends Southall's belly button to the back. Steel falls off balance throwing a combination
and Southall counters with a thumping low kick. Steel throws a right and a left that both miss. Steel misses with a double jab
and Southall makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Steel really felt that one! Steel looks winded! Good leg kick by Southall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Steel is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Southall thumps Steel with a low kick. Southall lands a big head kick that sends Steel tumbling to the mat! Southall takes a step backwards and waves Steel back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Steel is rocked! Steel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Steel is still on wobbly legs! Can Southall finish him? That kick from Southall tenderised Steel's leg. Steel is trying to keep his angry face on. Steel seems to have recovered his senses. Southall thuds his shin into the meat of Steel's side. Steel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Southall throws a quick inside leg kick. Steel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Southall! Steel is out on his feet! Southall rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Steel is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Steel is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Neville Southall!
