Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmie Nichols! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Simdabad Garill! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garill throws a leg kick and Nichols counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nichols. Garill gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Nichols regains guard.
Nichols is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nichols perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Nichols trying to control the action but Garill is working from the bottom. Nichols stalling away here and it's allowed Garill to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Nichols is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nichols stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garill swivels though and keeps the full guard. Garill wants to sweep here but Nichols controlling him for the moment. Nichols trying to control but Garill is working from the bottom. Nichols stays in close to Garill's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nichols throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Garill looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nichols not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Garill shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Garill was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Nichols bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! A momentary lapse in concentration from Garill enables Nichols to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Garill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nichols stays in close to Garill's body and controls the position. Garill keeping moving, preventing Nichols from controlling successfully. Garill looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nichols content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Nichols stays in close to Garill's body and controls the position. Nichols scoring with punches to the head and body. Garill is trying to control the position but Nichols postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nichols trying to control the position from guard on top but Garill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. No luck for Nichols with that takedown attempt. Garill tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nichols is able to avoid easily. Nichols shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nichols was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Garill keeping his opponent close. Nichols content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmie Nichols dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Garill closes the distance and clinches. Nichols breaks the clinch.
Garill lands a jab to Nichols's midsection. Garill throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nichols was covering up waiting for the punch and Garill finishes the takedown easily into guard. Nichols lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Nichols throwing strikes but missing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garill keeping moving, preventing Nichols from controlling successfully. Garill wants to sweep but no luck. Nichols will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nichols trying to control but Garill is working from the bottom. Garill controls Nichols momentarily but Nichols frees himself. Nichols wants to control from the top but Garill keeps moving. Jimmie Nichols overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nichols is stalling in the full guard. Nichols's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Garill controls Nichols momentarily but Nichols frees himself. Nichols wants to control from the top but Garill keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Garill is looking for a triangle but Nichols pushes his legs off easily.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Nichols darts in looking for a takedown but Garill gets double underhooks and turns Nichols into the cage. Nichols doesn't manage to clinch there - Garill circles away.
Garill decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Nichols pushes Garill off and gets back to his feet. Nichols shoots for a takedown but Garill saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nichols closes the distance and clinches up with Garill, looking for a takedown. Nichols pushes Garill against the cage but Garill circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Garill is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmie Nichols. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nichols fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Garill avoids it really well and circles away. Garill is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garill moves into range and clinches up with Nichols. Garill wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nichols breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nichols fails with the takedown. Garill throws a head kick but Nichols moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Garill closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garill lands in his opponent's guard. Garill must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nichols wants to sweep but no luck. Garill sitting in guard, not really doing much. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nichols has Garill pulled in close to control his posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Simdabad Garill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Nichols shoots in but Garill avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nichols gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Garill to score an easy takedown into full guard. Garill preventing the sweep. Garill wants to control from the top but Nichols keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garill loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nichols wants to sweep here but Garill controlling him for the moment. Nichols is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Nichols drops back looking for a leg! Garill is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Garill manages to kick Nichols off! Nichols jumps back into Garill's guard. Nichols stopping the sweep attempt from Garill. Nichols won't allow Garill to get back to his feet. Nichols postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nichols's corner is telling him to maintain position. Garill throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Nichols working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Nichols missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Simdabad Garill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garill shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Garill leaves Nichols with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nichols dodges the punch combination from Garill.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nichols looks for a takedown but Garill sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmie Nichols. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nichols moves in looking to clinch but Garill pushes him off. Garill throws a fast counter high kick but Nichols manages to duck under it in time. Nichols shoots in looking for a takedown but Garill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nichols's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Garill fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nichols sprawls well initially but Garill persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Nichols tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Garill manages to move to mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Garill is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nichols has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Nichols wants to hold on but Garill pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Garill trying to control but he's not successful this time. Garill looking to finish with strikes here!
Nichols is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Garill can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nichols is looking to escape. Garill is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nichols is surviving well by controlling Garill's body position as best he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nichols tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Simdabad Garill comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Garill has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
