Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lynn Valdez (ranked 8826 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helmut Garill (ranked 4246 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lynn Valdez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Helmut Garill! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez swats away the attempt to clinch by Garill. Valdez shoots in looking for a takedown but Garill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Valdez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Garill gets in close and instigates a clinch. Garill's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Valdez really is a fat lump. Garill decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Valdez has one foot on Garill's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Garill gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Garill prevents Valdez from breaking the clinch. Garill can't break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Garill wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valdez keeps working. Garill tries to stand but can't do so whilst Valdez controls his leg. Valdez is looking to get back to full guard here but Garill has managed to pass to side control instead. Valdez parries the strikes from Garill easily there. Garill is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Valdez to escape.
Garill controls the position. Garill decides to stand back up. Garill steps back and let's Valdez get back to his feet. Garill closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garill trying to control the action but Valdez is working from the bottom. The strikes coming from Garill are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Valdez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Garill stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Valdez to get to his feet. Garill feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Garill slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garill working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Valdez keeping full guard, as Garill tries to pass. Garill looks winded! Valdez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Valdez striking off his back but it's not causing Garill any problems. Garill wants to control from the top but Valdez keeps moving. Garill controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Valdez shoots in but no luck this time. Garill looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Valdez takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Valdez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Garill to score an easy takedown into full guard. Valdez pushes Garill off and scrambles back to his feet.
Valdez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lynn Valdez. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck for Valdez with that takedown attempt. Garill was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Helmut Garill dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Garill tries to clinch up. Valdez feinted there with a counter leg kick. A head kick misses from Garill. Valdez misses with a takedown attempt - Garill sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Garill has Valdez up against the cage in a clinch.
Garill turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Garill manages to end up in side control. Valdez sneaks out the side door and pushes Garill away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valdez avoids the head kick by Garill.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garill lands a nice hook to Valdez's body. Valdez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Garill is breathing heavily. Valdez goes for a double leg but Garill avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Garill continues to drive forward. Valdez dives in and grabs Garill's left leg, looking for a takedown. Garill pushes down on Valdez's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lynn Valdez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garill thuds his right hand into Valdez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Garill shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Garill looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Garill is trying to control the action in half guard but Valdez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valdez moves into full guard.
Garill wants to stand and escape but instead Valdez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Valdez's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Valdez connects with a couple of short punches. Valdez with a nice head shot there. Valdez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lynn Valdez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Valdez lands a couple of digs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garill is looking to sweep but instead, Valdez has passed into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdez is looking to take a break and control but Garill is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Valdez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Garill wants to control the action here but instead Valdez manages to pass to full mount! Garill is in a horrible position here. Valdez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Lynn Valdez dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Valdez shoots in for a double leg but Garill sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Valdez circles away from the clinch attempt and Valdez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Garill closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Valdez to the mat! Valdez manages to get full guard. Garill's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valdez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garill gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Garill trying to control the position from guard on top but Valdez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Garill takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garill throwing strikes from guard but Valdez blocks nicely. Garill throws a strike but Valdez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Valdez landing some decent shots from guard. Valdez with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Valdez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garill can do anything to dispel that myth. Garill is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Valdez is aware though and is defending well. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Garill scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garill trying to control from Valdez's half guard. Valdez has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Valdez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Garill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valdez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Valdez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Garill defends well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Garill trying to control the position from guard on top but Valdez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Valdez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Valdez has his foot on Garill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garill works his way back into a safe position though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Garill wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Valdez's closed guard. He's half up but Valdez has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Valdez pivots and extends the arm, Garill falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Valdez! Well done that man!
