Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Francisco Escobar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sol Kwon! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escobar instigates a clinch. Kwon breaks the clinch.
Escobar has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Escobar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kwon sprawls well. Kwon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Escobar gets slowly back to his feet. Kwon scores with a jab. Escobar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kwon to the mat! Kwon manages to get full guard. Escobar wants to control from the top but Kwon keeps moving. Escobar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kwon is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Kwon wants to control but Escobar passes easily into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kwon sees it coming and defends easily. Escobar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kwon is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Escobar is trying to work for a kimura but Kwon is defending well.

Kwon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Escobar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kwon is defending against the submission attempts here by Escobar.
