PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Caine Abell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louis Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cote has chosen Chapter Four - Avenged Sevenfold as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Louis Cote acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Caine Abell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Louis Cote!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cote tries to close the distance and clinch but Abell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Abell. No joy for Cote on that attempt.
Abell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cote looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Caine Abell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Louis Cote.
Abell tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cote has one foot on Abell's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Cote lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Abell circles away quickly and effectively.
Abell motions for Cote to come forward. Abell throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Abell shoots in and bounces Cote off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Abell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cote regains half guard.
Abell is looking to take a break and control but Cote is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Abell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cote with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's time! Abell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cote on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cote tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cote takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Cote is looking for a sweep.
Cote wants to get back to his feet.

Abell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cote has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Abell but great work by Cote.

The fighters are battling for position here. Abell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

BOOM! Abell connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Abell cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Caine Abell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Cote really wants to buck Abell off and get back to his feet.
Abell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cote is squirming around, avoiding Abell's attempts to control the action.
Louis Cote has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cote is in all sorts of trouble here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Caine Abell showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Abell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
