Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Norbert Gilbert (ranked 24887 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Balboa (ranked 6612 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocky Balboa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Norbert Gilbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rocky Balboa!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Balboa has Gilbert up against the cage in a clinch.
Gilbert gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Gilbert tries to pull guard but Balboa won't allow it.

Gilbert jumps into guard, dragging Balboa to the mat.
Balboa postures up.
Gilbert will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gilbert trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Gilbert throws a couple of heel strikes.
Gilbert trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Gilbert wants to get back to his feet but Balboa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Balboa throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balboa gets to his feet. Gilbert looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The fight stays on the outside here - Balboa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As Balboa tries to get set, Gilbert tries to push him back and clinch up but Balboa manages to avoid the attempt.

Balboa manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Gilbert sneaks out the side door and pushes Balboa away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Balboa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Balboa wants it to stay on the feet.

and Gilbert counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gilbert.
Balboa lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Balboa has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gilbert is trying to keep an underhook but Balboa manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Gilbert is desperately trying to improve his position but Balboa has a good base and remains in mount.
Balboa unloads with some shots from mount but Gilbert bucks and avoids them well.
Gilbert is bucking up trying to escape but Balboa cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Balboa tries to control but Gilbert wriggling away.
Balboa thowing shots but they're missing.
Gilbert is squirming around, avoiding Balboa's attempts to control the action.
Gilbert is trying to reverse the position but instead Balboa has taken his back - oops!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gilbert is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Gilbert prevents Balboa from getting a body triangle.
Even with his hooks in, Balboa manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Gilbert trying to get back to his feet but Balboa is in full control for now.
Balboa is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Gilbert tries to escape but Balboa has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gilbert dives in and scores a takedown into Balboa's guard.

Gilbert would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gilbert has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Balboa is on him like a limpet, forcing Gilbert back against the cage.

Gilbert has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gilbert is trying to hold Balboa in close to prevent damage but Balboa has managed to pass into half guard.

Balboa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Gilbert to get to his feet.

and Gilbert counters with a three punch combo that has Balboa backing up. Balboa nods at Gilbert to acknowledge the strikes.

Balboa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Balboa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gilbert sprawls well initially but Balboa persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Balboa wants to work for an arm triangle but Gilbert is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Balboa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Balboa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Balboa takes a little break here. Gilbert wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Balboa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Balboa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gilbert is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Balboa has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Norbert Gilbert will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Gilbert is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Gilbert gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Gilbert gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Gilbert apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Balboa moves in looking to clinch but Gilbert pushes him off.

Gilbert slips a jab and a cross from Balboa.
Balboa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Balboa lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Balboa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Gilbert pushes Balboa off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Balboa is looking to clinch but Gilbert is avoiding it.
Gilbert seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Balboa throws a head kick but Gilbert moves out of range.

Balboa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gilbert can't do much from the bottom here.

Balboa tries for a kimura but Gilbert is defending well.
Gilbert manages to get back to half guard.
Balboa looks to land a strike but Gilbert avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Gilbert is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gilbert looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
