Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akihito Yamato (ranked 5751 p4p, 576 weight class) and Ryan Lock (ranked 7433 p4p, 660 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akihito Yamato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Lock!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lock doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Yamato connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lock misses with a takedown attempt
letting Yamato counter with a right hand.
Lock fails with a takedown attempt.
Yamato was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've been hearing reports that Yamato has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Akihito Yamato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Lock.
Lock tries to clinch up but Yamato circles away and keeps his distance.
Lock throws a lazy right hand but Yamato sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lock fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lock slips under a jab.
Yamato staying out of range there.
Lock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yamato as he avoids it easily.
Yamato fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lock on the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yamato throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lock sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Lock clinches up against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Yamato.
A short left from Yamato.
Yamato pushes Lock back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Lock jumps guard but Yamato stands there with Lock around his waist. Lock gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A right hand to the body from Lock.
Lock is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yamato to keep the fight standing.

Yamato pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lock tries to land a front kick but Yamato steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
It looked like Yamato wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Lock tries to clinch up.
Lock moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Ryan Lock has been cut.
Akihito Yamato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lock misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lock misses with a right hand
and Yamato counters with a straight right hand.
Lock misses with a head kick.
Lock shoots in for a double leg but Yamato sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lock looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yamato swats away the attempt to clinch by Lock.
Lock looks to land a body kick but Yamato moved away.
Lock tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yamato appears to be looking for a big counter.

Yamato cracks Lock with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Lock looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Yamato finish him?


Lock is rocked!
Lock circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Yamato. Lock falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Yamato!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Akihito Yamato!
Akihito Yamato bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
