Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shin Ichi (ranked 7107 p4p, 334 weight class) and Futoshi Matsunaga (ranked 3157 p4p, 150 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shin Ichi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Futoshi Matsunaga! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ichi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matsunaga. Ichi tries to counter by clinching up but Matsunaga breaks away and moves out of range. Matsunaga throws a jab when Ichi was well out of range. Ichi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ichi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Shin Ichi has been cut. Matsunaga scores with a shot to the body.
Ichi slips under a jab from Matsunaga. Ichi attempts a counter takedown but Matsunaga avoids it well and moves away. Matsunaga throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ichi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matsunaga's waist but Matsunaga gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ichi off to one side. Ichi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Ichi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matsunaga defends well and Ichi ends up having to push Matsunaga into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. We've been told by Ichi's head coaches at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shin Ichi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Matsunaga misses with a few strikes there.
Ichi is looking to counter the offense by Matsunaga and move into the clinch. Matsunaga lunges at Ichi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ichi's hand. A big right from Matsunaga misses. Ichi clinches. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ichi takes a shot to the head. Matsunaga's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ichi shoots in but Matsunaga avoids the takedown attempt easily. Matsunaga avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Matsunaga looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Ichi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matsunaga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ichi somewhat. Ichi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Matsunaga sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Matsunaga looks to land a left hand but Ichi moved out of range nicely. Matsunaga lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A slow jab from Matsunaga misses its intended target. Ichi feinted with a counter takedown. Matsunaga throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ichi tries to clinch but fails miserably and Matsunaga counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ichi clinches with his opponent.

Matsunaga pushes Ichi back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. A head punch on the inside from Matsunaga fails to land. Matsunaga breaks from the clinch.
Ichi defending well as Matsunaga loads up on a big left hand. Ichi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Matsunaga counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Matsunaga might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Matsunaga throws a hook but Ichi avoids it easily. Matsunaga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matsunaga wants it to stay on the feet. It seemed like Matsunaga was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Ichi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Matsunaga counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ichi wants to clinch but Matsunaga slips to the side and Matsunaga counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Ichi closes the distance and clinches. Matsunaga doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Matsunaga tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ichi. Ichi is trying to stall.

Shin Ichi's cut is getting worse. Ichi is looking to clinch but Matsunaga is avoiding it.
Ichi with a lazy takedown attempt and Matsunaga counters with a lovely straight right hand! Matsunaga lands a lovely overhand right. Matsunaga tests Ichi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matsunaga jabs at Ichi's body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matsunaga throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Matsunaga connects with the punch. Ichi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Matsunaga.

Matsunaga has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ichi is landing a low percentage of strikes. Ichi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matsunaga tries to avoid it but Ichi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matsunaga to the ground. Matsunaga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Matsunaga digs a good body shot into Ichi's ribs. Ichi moves in looking to clinch but Matsunaga pushes him off. Ichi avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ichi appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Matsunaga throws a jab when Ichi was well out of range. Matsunaga throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ichi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Ichi fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Futoshi Matsunaga dominated that round. The cut man is working on Shin Ichi's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ichi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Matsunaga throws out the jab. Ichi tries to close the distance and clinch but Matsunaga swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ichi slips under a jab from Matsunaga. Ichi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matsunaga as he jumps to the side. Matsunaga now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Ichi with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Matsunaga to score with a decent uppercut. Ichi tries to clinch but Matsunaga moves away letting Matsunaga counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matsunaga throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ichi on the side of the head. Ichi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ichi tries to clinch up but Matsunaga circles away and keeps his distance. Ichi fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shin Ichi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ichi tries to score a body lock takedown but Matsunaga shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A short uppercut from Matsunaga. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Matsunaga creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ichi. Matsunaga misses with some punches.
Matsunaga swings wildly with an uppercut but Ichi uses good head movement to avoid it. A short uppercut from Matsunaga. Ichi tries for a takedown but Matsunaga manages to get underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ichi ducks under a wild hook from Matsunaga. Ichi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Matsunaga. A big left from Matsunaga misses. Ichi tries to clinch and Matsunaga connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Shin Ichi's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Matsunaga lands a glancing blow to the side of Ichi's head. Ichi shoots in but no luck this time. Ichi fails with a takedown attempt. Matsunaga throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ichi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Matsunaga lands a jab to the head.

Ichi is rocked!
Jeez, Shin Ichi's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Nice cross by Matsunaga. Oh Ichi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Matsunaga closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Ichi! Matsunaga dives in looking to finish! Ichi is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Futoshi Matsunaga! A relieved looking Futoshi Matsunaga thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
