Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivory Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solis tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily
and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jon Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Solis shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Solis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Solis's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Solis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Jones puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Jones stalling.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Solis defends the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones stops Solis from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones wants to stand but Solis has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Jones slows the pace down in half guard.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Solis defends the submission attempt.
Still in half guard, Jones seems content to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Solis misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Solis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Solis makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Solis swinging wildly here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Solis's guard.
Jones works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Solis has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Jones is on him like a limpet, forcing Solis back against the cage.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Solis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Solis sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Solis trying to control but Jones postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones controlling the action here.
Solis wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones wants to stand up but Solis is controlling the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Jones dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Solis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Solis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones feints the counter takedown.
Solis tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Solis tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.
Solis misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jones scores with a counter punch that sends Solis to the canvas! Jones smells blood - he's punishing Solis with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Solis has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Jones!
