Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Van Carey (ranked 6617 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antwan Turner (ranked 6777 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Van Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antwan Turner!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carey's half guard.
Turner not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Turner throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.


It looks like Van Carey has been cut.

Turner is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Turner controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carey is not content to let Turner control the position.
Turner winds up and cracks Carey with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Turner is trying to work for a kimura but Carey is defending well.

Carey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Turner is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carey is just riding it out for now. Turner eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Carey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Turner.
Turner is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Turner is working Carey over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Carey wants to sweep but no luck.
Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Carey preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Carey wants to clinch.
Turner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Turner throws a right and a left that Carey avoids nicely.
Turner keeps the fight on the outside.

Turner drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Turner wants to stand but Carey has his arm trapped.

Carey regains half guard, as Turner was trying to land strikes.
Carey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Turner is working away from the top position though.

Turner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carey is proving hard to escape from.
Turner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Carey pulls Turner in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Turner looks to land a right hand but Carey moved out of range.
Carey shoots and misses

Carey gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Carey looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Turner content to control rather than advance.
Turner has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Turner looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Turner wants to take a breather but Carey is having none of it.
Turner looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Carey misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Turner throwing shots but Carey is blocking nicely.
Turner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Turner has managed to clinch.
Carey tries to pull guard but Turner won't allow it.

Carey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Turner scores with a takedown into Carey's guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Turner. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Turner wants to stand and escape but instead Carey has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Carey is looking to work some ground and pound but Turner has wrist control.
Turner is pulling down on Carey's head. It's preventing any offense from Carey, at least for the moment.
Turner wants to sweep here but Carey controlling him for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Turner throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Antwan Turner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Turner shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carey's guard.

Turner has gone for a leg lock! Carey slips out almost immediately though and dives into Turner's guard.


Carey drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Turner dives on top into guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Turner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Carey gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Antwan Turner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Turner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
