Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 3325 p4p, 330 weight class) and Yuki Shojo (ranked 2051 p4p, 221 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Shojo! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo feints and as Shojo raises his hands in defense, Aldo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Shojo has his feet on Aldo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Aldo shoots for a takedown but Shojo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Shojo throws a body shot but no joy. Shojo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shojo wants it to stay on the feet. Shojo stuffs the takedown attempt from Aldo. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Aldo. That's going to take a lot out of him. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aldo. Shojo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Aldo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Aldo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shojo tries to avoid it but Aldo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shojo to the ground. Shojo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. We've been informed that Shojo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Shojo moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shojo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Shojo wants to get back to his feet but Aldo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Aldo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shojo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shojo is trying to keep Aldo in close.
Shojo has his hands on Aldo's head, controlling the position. Shojo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've been hearing good reports from Aldo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Shojo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Aldo. Aldo gets tackled into the cage by Shojo. Shojo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Aldo up against the cage. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Shojo misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nice body punch from Shojo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shojo tries a body shot but Aldo blocks it.

Shojo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aldo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shojo looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Aldo has picked Shojo up and slammed him! Shojo can't keep hold of the triangle and Aldo manages to pass to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuki Shojo seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shojo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aldo circles away quickly and effectively. Shojo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Aldo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Aldo misses with a takedown attempt and Shojo counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Aldo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aldo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jose Aldo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Yuki Shojo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jose Aldo's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Shojo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Shojo tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Aldo's elbow. Aldo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shojo walks away with a smile on his face. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Shojo lands a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Yuki Shojo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Shojo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
