PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shin Murakami (ranked 19041 p4p, 932 weight class) and Bob Truck (ranked 20787 p4p, 908 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bob Truck was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Truck!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murakami fails in his attempt to clinch.
Murakami shoots in looking for a takedown. Truck tries to sprawl out of it but Murakami keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Truck manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bob Truck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Truck misses with a series of wild punches.
Truck works the jab nicely.
Truck moves out of range as Murakami strikes.
Truck feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Murakamis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Truck's coach down at Blackscar Fitness was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Truck's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Truck scores with a kick to the body.
Truck circles away from the clinch attempt.
Truck throws a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murakami walks into a left hand.
Truck feints a jab promting Murakami to slip. Truck then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Murakami slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Murakami throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Truck moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

A slapping leg kick lands for Truck.
Truck connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Truck throws a low kick, looking for Murakami's leg but Murakami calmly moves out of range.
Truck connects with a good right hand that stumbles Murakami. Murakami circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Truck scores with a nice strike.
Murakami fails in his attempt to clinch.
Truck connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Nice shot lands for Truck.
Truck scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Truck tried to score with a low kick but Murakami checks it.
Murakami needs to keep his hands up - Truck had a free shot at his head there.
Murakami ducks right into an uppercut from Truck.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Murakami on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Nice takedown defense from Truck. No joy for Murakami on that attempt.
Truck scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Murakami doesn't seem bothered though.

A solid leg kick lands there for Truck.
Truck throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Murakami on the side of the head.
Truck throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Murakami counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Truck holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Murakami is keen to just control but Truck is a slippery customer.
Truck regains full guard. Nicely done.
Murakami looking to sit in guard and control but Truck gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Murakami is trying to control the position but Truck postures up.
Truck sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Murakami's guard.

Truck is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Murakami defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Truck's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Truck in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Murakami tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Truck!
