The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pudzianowski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gomes but Gomes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gomes lands with a nice body punch.
Pudzianowski looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gomes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gomes finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Gomes drops Pudzianowski with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Pudzianowski looks back up at him and smiles so Gomes waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Mariusz Pudzianowski has been cut.
Pudzianowski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gomes as he jumps to the side.
Gomes lands a brutal uppercut that launches Pudzianowski off his feet! Pudzianowski tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
