PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trey Brown (ranked 2375 p4p, 373 weight class) and Boogie Knight (ranked 2575 p4p, 389 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Boogie Knight was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trey Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Boogie Knight!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Brown does it's job there.
Nice jab there from Brown.
Knight stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Brown.
Knight throws a body shot but no joy.
Brown throws a left and a right that both miss

and Knight counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Knight in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Knight throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Knight wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Knight sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brown's guard.
Brown is trying to stand back up but Knight is controlling him
Knight is thwarting Brown's attempts to control the position.
Knight wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.
Knight has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Knight is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brown has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Knight is working for a kimura but Brown is defending it quite comfortably.
Knight seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Knight is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Brown controlling the position for now.
Knight lands strikes from half guard.
Brown is trying to get back to full guard.
Brown tries to kick Knight off but Knight keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brown moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brown is on top in guard.

Brown content to stall in guard here.

Knight has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brown is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Knight.
You can see the frustration on Knight's face as Brown controls the position.
Knight wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown wants to stand but Knight has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knight works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Knight is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brown defends well.
Brown prevents Knight from getting back to his feet.
Knight keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
Brown wants to get up but he can't break Knight's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brown's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Knight has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brown can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Knight is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Our spies down at at Jacks Fight Club inform us that Knight has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Knight being controlled here, momentarily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Knight connects with a solid leg kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knight closes the distance and lands a one-two.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boogie Knight dominated that round.
That's time! Brown's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Knight is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brown sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Trey Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Brown misses with an uppercut. Knight saw that one coming.
Brown throws a sloppy head kick
and Knight counters with a one-two to the body.
Knight with a lazy takedown attempt
and Brown counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Brown tests Knight's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Brown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Knight doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Brown throws a jab when Knight was well out of range.
Knight ducks under a wild hook from Brown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A shot to the liver by Knight. Beautiful body shot.
Good leg kick by Knight there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Brown misses with an uppercut. Knight saw that one coming.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Knight's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Knight duly obliges.

Knight blocks a jab.
Knight is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brown sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Trey Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boogie Knight.
Nice defenses there by Knight.
Brown slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Trey Brown is winning the standup battle so far.
Brown misses with an uppercut.
Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Brown swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Knight throws a right and a left that Brown avoids nicely.
Brown connects with a single shot there.
Left hook, right uppercut from Brown.


Knight is rocked!
Trey Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knight gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Brown gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Knight is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trey Brown!
