Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Lane Burch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Sloma! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burch blocks a head kick by Sloma.
Sloma rushes Burch and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sloma works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Burch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sloma wants to control from the top but Burch keeps moving. Burch is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sloma is controlling him. Sloma is fighting to break Burch's control of his arms but Burch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burch has a closed guard, preventing Sloma from standing up. Sloma trying to control the position from guard on top but Burch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sloma controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloma stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sloma shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burch manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Sloma distracts Burch with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sloma tries to free his leg and advance position but Burch is retaining full guard. Sloma lands a couple of decent looking shots. Sloma must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sloma wants to control from the top but Burch keeps moving. Burch has his feet on Sloma's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Sloma.
Burch seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Sloma looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Burch wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sloma manages to pass to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sloma wants to control but Burch is keeping him busy. Sloma wants to pass the guard but Burch is defending well. Sloma is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloma stands up out of the half guard. Sloma has closed the distance and engaged Burch in a clinch.
Burch jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sloma walks away with a smile on his face. Burch gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sloma leaves Burch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sloma looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Burch! Sloma thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Sloma wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Burch, who protects the arm well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burch sneaks back into half guard. Sloma stops Burch from getting back to his feet.
Burch trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sloma in particular looking to stall. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Sloma dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

It looked like Burch was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Sloma rushes Burch and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sloma manages to pull guard.

Sloma closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Burch is looking for a sweep. Sloma is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Burch pushes Sloma off looking to stand but Sloma dives back in and keeps control.
Burch on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Sloma stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Burch to get to his feet. Sloma shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burch manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

This has been an exciting period of action! Sloma shoots in and gets a takedown into Burch's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Burch is looking to stand up but Sloma isn't so interested in that idea. Sloma wants to control from the top but Burch keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloma pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Burch is keeping the position for now. Sloma being controlled here momentarily. Burch keeping moving, preventing Sloma from controlling successfully. Sloma keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Burch's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sloma is pushing down on Burch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Burch is fighting to maintain full guard but Sloma has managed to sneak the leg through. Burch trying to hold on to Sloma's head to control him but Sloma postures up.
Burch pushes Sloma off looking to stand but Sloma dives back in and keeps control.
Sloma is controlling the pace.
Sloma is trying to work for a kimura but Burch is defending well.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Sloma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Burch misses with a takedown attempt - Sloma sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sloma lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Burch backs up against the cage.

Oh Burch is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sloma has Burch up against the cage in a clinch.
Sloma pulls guard effortlessly. Sloma controls Burch momentarily but Burch frees himself. Burch seems to have got his legs back now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sloma is pulling down on Burch's head to control his posture. Burch controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sloma not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Burch controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sloma shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burch napping and manages to drive through into side control! Burch explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Sloma takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloma gets the takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Burch is holding Sloma down, trying to stall. Burch is pushing Sloma's head away, looking to escape. Sloma manages to hold on to the position though. Sloma controls the position. Sloma is trying to get an arm triangle but Burch is defending well. John Sloma has got the better of the ground game so far. Sloma has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burch misses with a takedown attempt and Burch takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Sloma scores with a decent looking hook. Burch dives in and grabs Sloma's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sloma pushes down on Burch's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lane Burch. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sloma looking to score a takedown here. Burch is defending well but Sloma drives through and ends up in Burch's guard. Sloma looking to sit in guard and control but Burch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sloma can do anything to dispel that myth. Sloma looking for a sweep. Not yet Sloma, not yet. Burch thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Burch working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burch lands a couple of elbows. Burch won't allow Sloma to sweep him here. Burch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Sloma is trying to keep Burch in close.
Burch stops Sloma from standing up. Sloma wants to sweep here but Burch controlling him for the moment. Burch is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that's the end of the fight! John Sloma comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sloma has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
