PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Kain (ranked 10007 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enda OSullivan (ranked 8974 p4p, 0 weight class). Enda OSullivan is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sam Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Enda OSullivan!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kain lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nice sprawl there from Kain as OSullivan shoots in.
Kain lands a two punch combo.
Nice takedown defense from Kain. No joy for OSullivan on that attempt.
OSullivan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kain as he jumps to the side.
Sam Kain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Enda OSullivan.
Kain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around OSullivan's waist but OSullivan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kain off to one side.

OSullivan closes the distance and pushes Kain back into the cage.

Kain pulls guard effortlessly.
OSullivan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
OSullivan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kain sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

OSullivan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Kain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kain keeping his opponent close.
OSullivan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

OSullivan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kain to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. OSullivan defends it nicely.
Decent striking displayed by Kain there.
OSullivan misses with a double jab.
Kain tries to counter with a takedown but OSullivan is quick to defend against it.
No luck for OSullivan with that takedown attempt.
Kain looks for a takedown but OSullivan sprawls well.
Kain is breathing heavily.
OSullivan goes for a double leg but Kain avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kain continues to drive forward.
Kain misses with a head kick.
OSullivan is looking for the big counter here.

OSullivan instigates a clinch.

OSullivan manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kain postures up.
OSullivan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kain engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
OSullivan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OSullivan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for OSullivan on the ground.
Kain wants to stand but OSullivan is controlling his posture from full guard.
OSullivan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
OSullivan shoots in looking for a takedown but Kain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing OSullivan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kain throws a big counter combination but OSullivan scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

OSullivan pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Kain will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kain goes for a double leg but OSullivan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as OSullivan continues to drive forward.

OSullivan takes the fight into the clinch.
Kain goes for a takedown in the clinch but OSullivan prevents it.
OSullivan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
OSullivan is stalling here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
OSullivan tries to pull guard but Kain forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
OSullivan fails to pull guard.
Sam Kain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Enda OSullivan.

OSullivan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kain drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

OSullivan pushes Kain off and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kain shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches OSullivan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
OSullivan tries to buck Kain off but Kain is having none of it.
OSullivan wants to control but Kain postures up.
Kain wants to control for a moment but OSullivan uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
OSullivan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for OSullivan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
OSullivan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OSullivan is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kain throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to OSullivan's body to avoid the submission. OSullivan has instead reached around Kain's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! OSullivan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Enda OSullivan!
