Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alton Bullock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phil Johnston!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bullock ducks under a wild hook from Johnston.
Bullock seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnston. Bullock does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bullock throws a big counter combination but Johnston scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Bullock blocks a head kick by Johnston.
Johnston gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bullock counters with a left and a right that stings Johnston.
Johnston shoots in looking for a takedown. Bullock tries to sprawl out of it but Johnston keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bullock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bullock seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnston with a poor takedown
and Bullock counters with a series of strikes. Johnston will be more careful next time no doubt.
Alton Bullock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Johnston.
Johnston lands a left and a right that send Bullock crashing to the mat, dazed. Johnston thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Bullock is rocked!
It looks like Alton Bullock has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnston shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bullock as he avoids it easily.
Oh Bullock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnston forces Bullock back against the cage and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnston escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnston clinches up with Bullock and pushes him back against the cage.
Johnston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Phil Johnston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnston cracks Bullock with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Bullock falls to his knees and Johnston doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phil Johnston!
