PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sagerf Zirwombale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Krundel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sagerf Zirwombale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, AJ Krundel!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zirwombale shoots in but Krundel avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Krundel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Zirwombale!
Krundel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zirwombale is looking to escape.

Krundel working for a guillotine from mount but Zirwombale is in no mood to give up.
Krundel putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Krundel sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Zirwombale holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Krundel tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Krundel throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Zirwombale because Krundel loaded up on that one.
Krundel tries to control but Zirwombale wriggling away.
Krundel blocks Zirwombale's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Krundel controlling the position well here. Zirwombale rolled but Krundel kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Zirwombale is looking for a sweep. Krundel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krundel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Krundel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Krundel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Krundel dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Krundel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Zirwombale counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Zirwombale looking to pass the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Krundel is on top in guard.
Krundel trying to control but Zirwombale is working from the bottom.
Krundel wants to pass the guard but Zirwombale is keeping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Krundel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Krundel trying to control the position from guard on top but Zirwombale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Krundel passes Zirwombale's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Zirwombale is refusing to be controlled, as Krundel sits in half guard.
Krundel looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Zirwombale is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Krundel feints and as Zirwombale raises his hands in defense, Krundel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Krundel wants to control from the top but Zirwombale keeps moving.
Krundel pushing down on Zirwombale's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zirwombale punching from the bottom.
Krundel is looking to take a break and control but Zirwombale is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Krundel is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Zirwombale!
Krundel sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Krundel wants to take his opponent's back but Zirwombale doesn't allow it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Zirwombale working to try and regain half guard.
Krundel connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Zirwombale avoids a series of strikes thrown by Krundel.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krundel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Zirwombale wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Krundel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Krundel has his takedown stuffed

and Zirwombale decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Krundel's guard.
Krundel has Zirwombale pulled in close to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zirwombale accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krundel controls Zirwombale momentarily but Zirwombale frees himself.
Zirwombale trying to control the position from guard on top but Krundel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zirwombale passes into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Zirwombale is working for a kimura but Krundel is defending it quite comfortably.
Zirwombale is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Krundel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Zirwombale!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Krundel with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The referee warns Zirwombale that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Zirwombale tries to reverse the position but Krundel maintains control.
Krundel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zirwombale is looking to escape.
Sagerf Zirwombale has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Krundel landing strikes from the mount.
Zirwombale is trying to reverse the position but instead Krundel has taken his back - oops!
Krundel has the hooks in. Zirwombale is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Krundel is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Krundel throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Zirwombale!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sagerf Zirwombale.
Well Krundel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
