Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Duc Minh Pham (ranked 7517 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Groat (ranked 7796 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Duc Minh Pham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Groat! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pham tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Groat paws at him with a jab and circles away. Pham moves forwards but Groat connects with a nice, crisp jab.
It looks like Duc Minh Pham has been cut. Pham moves out of range of the strikes. Pham swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Pham throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Groat! But no joy. Groat misses with a hook. Pham ducked under it nicely. Groat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pham. Groat with a nice cross. Pham paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Pham throws a hook to the side of Groat's head but Groat sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pham misses with a left hand and Groat counters with a stiff right hand. Pham tries to clinch up but Groat circles away and keeps his distance. Pham rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Groat moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Pham looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Donk. Pham catches Groat right on the button with a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Groat throws a hook but Pham blocks it. Pham lands a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pham misses with a straight right. Pham misses with a looping right. Pham takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Groat connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Duc Minh Pham seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pham staying out of range there. Groat throws a looping overhand right but Pham ducks down to avoid it. Pham with a hook. Nice shot lands for Pham. Pham fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Groat manages to avoid it. Pham staying out of range there. Pham tries to move into range but Groat moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Pham is rocked! A shot to the body from Pham misses enabling Groat to counter with a crisp jab. Oh Pham is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Groat cracks Pham with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Pham tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Groat pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Pham is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
