Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Conway (ranked 6683 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Skytte (ranked 6682 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lanny Conway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Skytte!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Skytte shoots in and bounces Conway off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Skytte's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Conway is trying to control the position but Skytte postures up.
Conway looking to hit a scissor sweep but Skytte is one step ahead there.
Skytte postures up.
Skytte passes into half guard.
Skytte wants to stand up but Conway has a hold of him and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skytte is working for a kimura but Conway is defending it quite comfortably.
Skytte keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Conway really is a fat lump.

It looks like Skytte might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Conway is trying to get back to full guard.
Skytte perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Conway might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Skytte prevents Conway from improving his position.
Skytte is figuring out what he wants to do next.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Skytte wants to stand but Conway has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Skytte closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Conway successfully pulls guard.
Conway trying to keep a closed guard but Skytte is proving a slippery customer.

Skytte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Conway swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Skytte seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Skytte distracts Conway with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skytte slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Conway not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Skytte content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Skytte tries to free his leg and advance position but Conway is retaining full guard.
Skytte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Conway controls Skytte momentarily but Skytte frees himself.
Skytte is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Skytte is in close to Conway's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Conway is trying to keep Skytte in close.
Skytte has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Conway is proving hard to escape from.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Skytte drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skytte jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Conway is trying hard to land a takedown here. Skytte sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Skytte feints and as Conway raises his hands in defense, Skytte changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mike Skytte has got the better of the ground game so far.

Conway working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Skytte has passed into half guard!

Skytte seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are battling for position here. Conway manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Conway has a closed guard, preventing Skytte from standing up.
Skytte is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Skytte is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Skytte drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Conway manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Skytte has Conway in his guard.

Conway wants to control from the top but Skytte keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Conway avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Skytte can do anything to dispel that myth.
Conway won't allow Skytte to get back to his feet.

Conway decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Skytte throws a lazy head kick
and Conway counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Conway shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Skytte pinned against the cage. Skytte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Skytte keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lanny Conway. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Skytte moves into the clinch.
Conway is trying to pull guard but Skytte has him pressed against the cage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Skytte stops a takedown attempt from Conway.

Skytte ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Skytte no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Skytte has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Conway won't allow Skytte to sweep him here.

Skytte has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Skytte has his feet on Conway's thighs here. He's pushed Conway off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Conway screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
