PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Algot Uggla (ranked 2343 p4p, 237 weight class) and Paul Landen (ranked 2835 p4p, 269 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Algot Uggla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Landen!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Landen looks to land a left hand but Uggla moved out of range nicely.
A nice combination there by Uggla.
Uggla has his takedown stuffed
and Landen counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Uggla shoots for a double leg takedown but Landen sprawls well. He's pushed Uggla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Landen throws a looping overhand right but Uggla ducks down to avoid it.
Uggla fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Algot Uggla. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Uggla throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Landen's waist but Landen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Uggla off to one side.
Landen looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Landen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Landen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Landen tries a quick counter leg kick but Uggla is wise to it.
Algot Uggla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Landen lands a jab to the nose.
Uggla shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Landen sprawls well. Landen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Uggla gets slowly back to his feet.

Uggla fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Landen sprawls well initially but Uggla persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Landen has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Uggla. Oh but Landen has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Uggla goes limp - he's gone! Landen jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Paul Landen!
In his post fight interview, Paul Landen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Algot Uggla was interviewed post fight and said 'I should not of eaten at the buffet after the hooker left last night. I am weak when it comes to buffets.'.
