Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kelly Gilliam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cristen Shaw! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Nice takedown defense from Shaw. No joy for Gilliam on that attempt. The fight moves into the clinch position. Shaw is trying to break the clinch but Gilliam has him pressed against the cage. Shaw blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaw wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shaw's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gilliam wants to clinch up but Shaw keeps it at a distance. As Gilliam backs off Shaw throws a huge counter combo but Gilliam manages to avoid it all.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaw tries to keep at a distance but Gilliam has taken the fight into the clinch. Gilliam is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gilliam tries a body shot but Shaw blocks it.
Gilliam tries to land knees in the clinch but Shaw avoids the damage to the body. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gilliam can't find room to land a body shot as Shaw controls the action.
Shaw is trying to force a seperation but Gilliam has the dominant position. Shaw escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gilliam will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gilliam tries to land knees in the clinch but Shaw avoids the damage to the body. The referee calls for Gilliam to work.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gilliam gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Shaw breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gilliam rushes Shaw and presses him up against the cage. Shaw wants to break free but Gilliam has control.

Shaw pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gilliam fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gilliam pushes Shaw off and scrambles back to his feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Gilliam fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shaw to the ground. Gilliam is now in Shaw's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilliam gets to his feet. Shaw looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Gilliam dives in and grabs Shaw's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes down on Gilliam's head and hops out. Gilliam shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shaw as he jumps to the side. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gilliam fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gilliam tries to clinch but Shaw is having none of it. Shaw is looking for the big counter here. Gilliam is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shaw can do to turn this around? Gilliam fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gilliam gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gilliam jumps guard but Shaw stands there with Gilliam around his waist. Gilliam gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shaw letting Gilliam take a breather here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kelly Gilliam dominated that second round. That's time! Gilliam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

As Gilliam backs off Shaw throws a huge counter combo but Gilliam manages to avoid it all. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gilliam tries to clinch up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilliam wants to clinch but Shaw slips to the side and Shaw counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Gilliam badly! Shaw follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Gilliam out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Shaw finished him against the cage.
