Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Van Rijn!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Rijn clinches with his opponent.
Ruiz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Ruiz is trying to push Van Rijn away but Van Rijn has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Van Rijn lands a shot to the body.
Van Rijn lands with a right to the head.
It looks like Alejandro Ruiz has been cut.
Van Rijn scores with a shot to the side of Ruiz 's head.
Ruiz looks to throw an elbow but misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ruiz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Van Rijn pulls his leg out and moves away.

Ruiz tries to clinch but Van Rijn is having none of it.

and Van Rijn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Van Rijn closes the distance and pushes Ruiz back into the cage.
Ruiz jumps guard but Van Rijn stands there with Ruiz around his waist. Ruiz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ruiz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Van Rijn smiles and moves away.
Ruiz steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Van Rijn. That one must have hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ruiz throws a sloppy head kick
and Van Rijn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Van Rijn sizes up Ruiz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ruiz moves into the clinch.
Ruiz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Van Rijn has him pressed against the cage.
Van Rijn doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Van Rijn prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ruiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Van Rijn walks away with a smile on his face. Ruiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ruiz .

Ruiz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Van Rijn works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ruiz 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ruiz stands and steps away. Van Rijn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Van Rijn counters with a nice uppercut.

Oh Ruiz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Van Rijn lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ruiz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Van Rijn to keep the fight standing.
Van Rijn lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ruiz backwards.
Still in the clinch, Van Rijn scores with a nice short uppercut.
Van Rijn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Van Rijn lands a body shot.
Van Rijn digs a right hand underneath Ruiz 's ribcage. Ruiz let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Van Rijn looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Van Rijn pushes Ruiz against the cage. Van Rijn is working some dirty boxing. Van Rijn pushes off with a quick right hook! Ruiz goes down! Ruiz tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Van Rijn moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Van Rijn!
