Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tajhon Blahs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Wellwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyle Wellwood has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tajhon Blahs's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tajhon Blahs!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Wellwood!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellwood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wellwood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wellwood tries a head kick but it misses.
Blahs throws a nice inside leg kick.
Blahs tests Wellwood's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Blahs lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A lazy left from Blahs finds it's target.


It looks like Kyle Wellwood has been cut.
Blahs throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Blahs closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wellwood to the mat! Wellwood manages to get full guard.
Wellwood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blahs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Blahs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Blahs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blahs advances to half guard.

Blahs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wellwood knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Blahs stops Wellwood from getting back to his feet.

Blahs is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wellwood has managed to free his arm - good work.
Blahs is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Blahs has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Blahs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wellwood is refusing to be controlled, as Blahs sits in half guard.
Blahs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Blahs stops Wellwood from getting back to his feet.
Blahs takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Blahs misses with a head shot. Wellwood uses the momentum to regain guard.

Wellwood working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blahs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blahs manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Blahs chips away with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blahs trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Blahs wants to control from the top but Wellwood keeps moving.
Blahs is stalling in the full guard.
Blahs tries to free his leg and advance position but Wellwood is retaining full guard.
Blahs lands a couple of elbows.
Blahs looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Blahs with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Blahs tries to free his leg and advance position but Wellwood is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blahs is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wellwood is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Blahs is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Blahs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wellwood preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Blahs trying to control but Wellwood is working from the bottom.
Wellwood working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Blahs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tajhon Blahs dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kyle Wellwood's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Blahs throws a nice head kick!
Blahs throws a right hand that Wellwood ducks under and follows up with a left that Wellwood also avoids with ease.
Blahs lands with a right hand.
Blahs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wellwood was well out of range. Poor timing from Blahs.
Blahs takes one on the button.
Tajhon Blahs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blahs looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Wellwood steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Blahs.
A punch combination from Blahs misses.
Wellwood stuffs the takedown.
Wellwood throws a lazy head kick
and Blahs counters with an outside leg kick.
Blahs throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wellwood.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wellwood connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Blahs momentarily.
Kyle Wellwood is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wellwood stuffs the takedown attempt from Blahs. Blahs gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blahs misses with a hook to the body
and Wellwood counters with a straight right hand.


Blahs is rocked!


It looks like Tajhon Blahs has been cut.
Blahs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wellwood swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wellwood throws an overhand right that drops Blahs like a sack of potatoes! Wellwood dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kyle Wellwood!
Kyle Wellwood is the new lightweight champion!
